Australian Comprehensive

The rest of the world has so much to offer the inquisitive traveller, with the allure of incredible cultures, sensational scenery, breath-taking buildings and other worldly wonders often clouding our view of what sits right underneath our noses and making it easy to forget the incredible array of port destinations and iconic attractions right on our doorstep, in and around Australia. Fortunately there is an ever swelling army (navy) of river and sea-going operators with seemingly endless portfolios of home grown offers, deals and ticks on the bucket list putting Australian destinations firmly in the spotlight.

A popular misconception though for Australian cruises is that because they don't leave our beloved homeland and seldom venture into international waters that travel insurance won't be necessary...ohh how wrong that idea is. It would be fair to say that travel insurance when cruising in and around Australia is as important as if you were going on a round the world trip of a lifetime, and arguably that it is even more important.

Aside from the obvious need for pre-trip cover protecting against cancellation for a multitude of reasons such as being unable to travel due to unforeseen events such as jury duty, a relative being taken ill or if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in accident, it is important to remember that while you are away circumnavigating our vast and stunning island, if you require any medical attention you won't be getting an opportunity to dial 000 to secure a visit from a friendly 'ambo', you are to a certain degree at the mercy of the ships doctor and hospital, and whilst they may be able to offer limited care for many scenarios, I'm sure we would all like to know that if emergency treatment is required and the only way to save your soul so you can embark on many more cruises, is to evacuate you to a world class Australian hospital by helicopter, it's very reassuring to know that your insurer will go to those lengths...and if you've done your homework, you will know there aren't very many travel insurance providers who can say that.

All of a sudden then the many other benefits that come as standard on the Australian Comprehensive travel plan seem almost insignificant. Please don't dismiss them as the same pit falls are lurking as much around Australia as they are abroad, meaning the ample luggage, computer, camera and video limits are just as relevant as is the fact that adventure sports on and off the ship are covered, snow sports are included should you be lucky enough to need them and you can also include accompanying kids under 25 years for free. You can lose the sea legs and pop off for a stress free Captain Cook anywhere from Darwin to Dunalley or Margaret River to Mooloolaba knowing rental vehicle excess is included, if your travel agent, cruise operator or wholesaler goes up the swanny or an un-welcome personal liability claim raises its ugly head they won't spoil your trip and even the admittedly remote chance of being hi-jacked is covered, meaning you will truly feel at home on the ocean wave.
